Aloe hybrid ‘Safari Rose’

Family: Asphodelaceae
Common Name: Safari Rose Aloe
Origin: Part of the “Safari Series” of dwarf hybrids by Kelly Griffin; propagated via tissue culture at Rancho Tissue Technologies

Description:

‘Safari Rose’ is a compact aloe hybrid selected for its brilliant rose-pink blooms and tidy form. Its rosettes of green leaves, lightly edged with fine teeth, remain modest in size, making it a versatile choice for small gardens and containers.

The real show arrives in bloom: spikes of soft rose-pink to salmon tubular flowers rise above the foliage, often flowering more than once a year under the right conditions. These blooms draw pollinators and provide a splash of pastel warmth to any xeric design.

Climate & Hardiness:

  • Zones: USDA 9–11
  • Cold Tolerance: Protect below ~25–30 °F (–4 to –1 °C)
  • Light: Full sun to light shade; flowers color best in bright exposure

Planting & Care Tips:

  • Size: Small—typically 8–12 in (20–30 cm) tall and wide
  • Soil: Fast-draining, sandy or gritty substrate
  • Watering: Low; water sparingly, allowing soil to dry between waterings
  • Growth Rate: Moderate; offsets steadily to form clumps
