Agave ovatifolia × victoriae-reginae ‘Sho-Time’

Family: Asparagaceae
Common Name: Sho-Time Agave
Origin: Horticultural hybrid (Agave ovatifolia × A. victoriae-reginae)

Description:

‘Sho-Time’ is a bold and brilliant hybrid combining the best of two iconic species. From A. ovatifolia, it inherits cold tolerance and a broad, open rosette form. From A. victoriae-reginae, it gains fine white markings and a tighter leaf structure. The result is a stunning, symmetrical specimen that grows slowly but commands attention.

Leaves are thick, ovate, and marked with bright white imprints—each plant is uniquely patterned. Expect it to reach around 2 to 3 feet wide at maturity, with a sculptural presence ideal for specimen planting.

Climate & Hardiness:

  • Zones: USDA 8–11
  • Cold Tolerance: Down to ~15°F (-9°C)
  • Light: Full sun to partial shade

Planting & Care Tips:

  • Soil: Well-draining, gritty or sandy soil preferred
  • Watering: Low water needs once established
  • Maintenance: Minimal—remove occasional dried leaves from base
