Agave pelona ‘Excalibur’
Family: Asparagaceae (Agavoideae)
Common Name: Excalibur Agave
Origin: Mexico; tissue-cultured selection of *Agave pelona*
Description:
Agave pelona ‘Excalibur’ is a sleek and refined agave with a strong architectural profile and bold presence. This cultivar features a dense rosette of narrow, toothless dark blue-green leaves that grow 2 to 4 feet across. Each leaf ends in a pronounced reddish spine, creating a clean yet dramatic silhouette.

Unlike many agaves, ‘Excalibur’ does not offset, maintaining a perfectly symmetrical solitary form that makes it ideal as a sculptural focal point. In spring, mature plants produce a tall, unbranched flower spike with stunning deep reddish-purple blooms—an uncommon and beautiful feature in the agave world.
