Aloe deltoideodonta ‘Sparkler’

Family: Asphodelaceae
Common Name: Sparkler Aloe
Origin: Cultivar of Madagascan species Aloe deltoideodonta; propagated by tissue culture at Rancho Tissue Technologies

Description:

‘Sparkler’ is a compact, decorative aloe distinguished by its vivid foliage markings. Each narrow, lance-shaped leaf is bright green to bluish-green, overlaid with cream to white speckling that gives a sparkling effect. Margins are delicately edged with small, soft teeth that highlight the plant’s tidy, upright form.

During warm months, mature plants produce slender stems topped with clusters of coral to orange tubular flowers—adding another layer of ornamental appeal and attracting pollinators to the garden.

Climate & Hardiness:

  • Zones: USDA 9–11
  • Cold Tolerance: Protect from frost; generally hardy to ~25–30 °F (-4 to -1 °C)
  • Light: Full sun to light shade; foliage patterning is brightest with good light

Planting & Care Tips:

  • Size: Small rosettes ~6–8 in (15–20 cm) across; clumps over time
  • Soil: Requires well-draining, gritty soil mix
  • Watering: Drought tolerant; water sparingly once established
  • Growth Rate: Moderate; produces offsets to form colonies
