Aloe hybrid ‘Safari Gold’

Family: Asphodelaceae
Common Name: Safari Gold Aloe
Origin: Part of the “Safari Series” of dwarf hybrids by Kelly Griffin; propagated via tissue culture at Rancho Tissue Technologies

Description:

‘Safari Gold’ is a compact aloe hybrid from Kelly Griffin’s renowned “Safari Series,” bred for brilliant flower color and frequent blooming. Its neat rosettes of green leaves are lightly toothed and often flushed with subtle gold highlights under strong light.

In bloom, it produces upright spikes densely packed with golden-yellow tubular flowers that glow above the foliage—living up to its name. Flowering can occur multiple times a year in favorable conditions, attracting pollinators and brightening the garden with warm, sunny tones.

Climate & Hardiness:

  • Zones: USDA 9–11
  • Cold Tolerance: Protect below ~25–30 °F (–4 to –1 °C)
  • Light: Full sun to light shade; brightest color and flowering in full sun

  • Soil: Requires fast-draining, sandy or gritty mix
  • Watering: Low; water sparingly once established
