Yucca filamentosa ‘Color Guard’

Family: Asparagaceae (Agavoideae)
Common Name: Color Guard Yucca
Origin: Garden cultivar of Yucca filamentosa
Production: Propagated exclusively via tissue culture at Rancho Tissue Technologies

Description:

Yucca filamentosa ‘Color Guard’ is a boldly variegated evergreen perennial prized for its striped sword-like foliage. Each leaf features a creamy yellow center flanked by deep green margins, creating year-round brightness and dramatic contrast in the landscape. The foliage gently arches outward in a symmetrical rosette, and in midsummer, tall flower spikes emerge bearing fragrant white bell-shaped blooms, attracting pollinators and adding height.

Unlike spikier species, ‘Color Guard’ is clump-forming, trunkless, and relatively soft-textured, making it a reliable choice for mass plantings, containers, or front-of-border accents. Cold hardy and highly adaptable, it thrives in a wide range of climates and soil types.
