Agave chazaroi

Family: Asparagaceae
Common Name: Chazaroi Agave
Origin: Jalisco, Mexico

Description:

*Agave chazaroi* is a rare and striking species known for its upright, broad, dark green leaves with prominent midribs and smooth margins. Each leaf tapers to a sharp terminal spine, giving the plant a bold, architectural look. It forms a tight rosette up to 3 feet tall and wide, offering a refined, almost prehistoric aesthetic.

A slow grower, it’s prized among collectors and landscape designers for its form and scarcity. Native to shaded cliffs in the mountains of western Mexico, it also tolerates filtered sun in cultivation.

  • Cold Tolerance: Down to ~25°F (-4°C)
  • Light: Partial sun or bright shade

Planting & Care Tips:

  • Soil: Needs excellent drainage; gritty or rocky mix preferred
