Price range: $0.65 through $1.05

Musa zebrina ‘Rojo’

Family: Musaceae
Common Name: Blood Banana, Red Abyssinian Banana
Origin: Native to Indonesia; cultivated widely for ornamental use due to its vibrant red foliage

Description:

Musa zebrina ‘Rojo’ is one of the most colorful ornamental bananas available, known for its bold green leaves dramatically splashed with deep maroon to crimson red on the upper surfaces and solid burgundy undersides. The leaves unfurl in vivid contrast, making this banana a true tropical statement plant. Mature plants reach 6–8 ft (1.8–2.4 m) tall, forming graceful clumps that bring a lush, exotic look to gardens, patios, and poolside landscapes.

Unlike edible varieties, ‘Rojo’ is primarily grown for its exceptional foliage color. It grows rapidly in warm conditions, producing large tropical leaves that add vertical dimension and rich texture to tropical and subtropical designs.
